Ella’s Swim Survival Lessons
A few months ago Jenn and I signed Ella up for a program that teaches children to survive if they fall into a pool or water. It’s 20-something lessons every single day in a row for 10-minutes each. What’s amazing is that the program teaches children to float on their backs to breathe (even with full clothes on) and then swim under water to safety (or just wait for help by floating on their back). Below is one of Ella’s final lessons.

Jenn’s Surprise 30th B-Day Party
So - I haven’t been able to tell anyone this or blog a whole lot because I’ve been super slammed with work and Jenn’s recent surprise party for her 30th birthday. Long story short we got a bunch of her friends and family together last week (Feb 9th) and faked like we were going to this really nice tennis facility near our house. I told her that I wanted to look at a new workout facility because of its close proximity and to come with me to look at it. Welp, we pop in there and walk up stairs to this party room. All of the sudden… boom! Surprise! Thanks to all of our friends and family that came - it was awesome!

Ella & Emma; Life in a Tent
So as you can see, my wife made Ella and her cousin Emma a play “tent”. Now Jenn is no engineer, but she did the best she could. I wouldn’t trust this tent to shield the girls from the elements, but they had fun none the less.
What I’m Thankful For This Holiday… Best Video That Sums It Up
Amongst other things that I’m thankful for this Holiday season is our soldiers. The war in Iraq & Afghanistan often times can be a distant memory in many American lives. We take for granted the freedom that our soldiers provide us and the sacrifices that they make with their families. Because of that, I have the freedom everyday to see my wife & daughter. I have the opportunity to provide for them as well.
I’m not sure whom has seen this video that was published a few months ago by NBC, but it reminds me of the families that also sacrifice to provide American’s freedom as well. It makes all the issues that I have with the two wars we are in go away, which by the way I ultimately support. Seeing moments like these sums up what it means to sacrifice; especially to those that are lost to tragedy.
I’m grateful for the service of our soldiers and the freedom they provide me to be with my family. May grace be upon you, your spouses, and children.
This Monkey is Going to Climb, No Matter What
Amongst other things, Ella is pretty determined to make her toy monkey climb. Daddy’s determined to run and chase her, too!

Jenn and I went to Houston this weekend for a wedding and stayed at my grandfather’s house. He lives about 10 minutes from Galveston Island and we took Ella to the beach. Behold!

Ella on Vacation: It’s Bubbles!
Last week we were on vacation in Breckenridge, Colorado. Beautiful place; played golf, fly fishing, white-water rafting, etc. Ella had a good time too in the jacuzzi bath tub in one of the bed rooms in the house we rented. See for yourself!
